Skill test exam pattern
The second stage examination is open only to those who have passed the first-level Computer Based Test (CBT) exam. Tier two shall be a practical examination where candidates will be required to write a passage on any topic of their choice within ten minutes at a writing speed of 100 words per minute w.p.m. for the stenographer grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the stenographer grade D position.
SSC Stenographer Tier 2 is the next stage of the selection process that is based on practical skills. Candidates who successfully complete their Tier 1 CBT will be allowed to sit for the Tier 2 exam. This tier has been designed as a shorthand proficiency test for evaluating stenography skills in applicants.
In this second tier test, the dictation language would either be English or Hindi, depending on what the applicants chose when applying online. The dictation will clock one hundred words per minute (w.p.m.) for those competing for the post of stenographer grade C and eighty words per minute (w.p.m.) for those fighting for the stenographer grade D role.
